The Job Description Computer Forensic Agent

If you would wish to become a specialist in digital analysis and retrieval of data, there are so many things that you have to do before you are completely qualified for the job. Obtaining a relevant bachelors degree is the main requirement for you to become a computer forensic agent. More so, certification is also important for one to be considered as competent. Forensic skills are also mandatory, and once one has all the skills, he will be able to retrieve data from any devices and help law officers in investigations.

This field is normally the information security system of the law enforcement, and it is also related to criminal justice field. Most of the analysts tend to work for the law, and they must retrieve data like photos, documents, and emails from storage devices like hard disks, flash drives and zip that may have been deleted, manipulated or damaged.

To add on that, these analysts examine gadgets that are suspected to have been used in cybercrime to trace illegal activities. In connection to that, the analysts protect digital devices form things like infiltration. They are also required to determine what caused the tools to break down and recover files that may have been accidentally lost.

The experts thus apply their skills and knowledge to trace any form of electronic information word documents, images or browser history among other crucial electronic information. Their technical skills are also crucial while tracing and retrieving hidden, deleted or lost data that is needed by special or private investigators. They also assist detectives in data evaluation and analysis.

For one to become a qualified specialist, they have to be very familiar with the operating systems of the digital devices, hardware, networks, security software, and creation of documents among other skills. They should also be experts in hacking as well as intrusion techniques and have excellent analytical skills so that they can provide the law enforcement with the information to trace down criminal activities.

In addition to that, it is mandatory to attend a four-year undergraduate degree in computer science and information technology so as to become an analyst at least. Additionally, criminal justice, as well as accounting skills, can also come in very handy in the field. Experience is also important for one to be qualified.

When one completes undergraduate studies and has gained experience, one is supposed to obtain more training that is offered by governing boards and pass the tests to get a certification. If you have all the relevant qualifications but lack the certification, it can be quite challenging to secure employment. This is because most employers need to see proof that you are qualified.

A qualified and certified analyst can then seek employment in related fields primarily criminal law. They then have to use all the skills they have learned to obtain any data that might be lost and which is crucial for investigation. More so, they can also extract any documents that have been hidden, assemble them and help law enforcement officers to analyze them.
